One Earth Shop

While it is far from universal, more and more people have come to realize that we need to sustainably manage our planet’s finite resources and to protect the ecosystems which all life is dependent upon. Many people are aware of the urgent need to heal our Mother Earth. This awareness, a paradigm shift if you will, has become a powerful force exerting a great deal of pressure on many of the day-to-day actions (earthly abuses) routinely undertaken by corporations, government agencies and the like.

For many of us, our own individual behavior is becoming more and more thoughtful as we strive to live not only a more sustainable lifestyle, but in closer harmony with nature. “First do no harm” encompasses our one, and only, Mother Earth.

You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.
—Jane Goodal

Environmentalism often viewed as a political perspective, regularly becomes a political tug-of-war with corporate and political greed wreaking havoc on the natural world, while ignoring science based, and thoughtful decisions. More often than not, our government fails to deliver effective programs (never mind solutions) to protect our water, land, air, and wildlife.

Nature is in freefall and the planet’s support systems are so stretched that we face widespread species extinctions and mass human migration unless urgent action is taken.

Every living creature bears the brunt of our endless destruction, their plight serves as a reminder that we can, we must, do better; for them, for the earth, and for ourselves. On that note, we created a few pieces to help raise environmental consciousness. All our items are ethically sourced, offer an urgent message, and are environmentally friendly.

Thank you for visiting, and as always, for your support.

Our favorite item, An Article of Faith, is available in a variety of wall art and notepads:

In One Cosmic Instant, John A. Livingston describes how we are but one creature in the web of life dependent on the integrity of the whole, and that if for no other reason than his own survival, man must soon adopt an ethic toward the environment.

Livingston’s arguments that we must find new approaches to our perception of nature and our place within it or face the irreversibility of our destruction of nature now reads prophetically.

“One’s disillusionment with society’s treatment of non-human nature is built on a body of evidence which is conspicuous on every hand.”

“Our attitude toward the non-human world is not immoral: it is amoral.”

Another favorite, A prayer for our earth. A prayer for our earth was taken from Pope Francis’s encyclical written on May 24, 2015, and can be read in its entirety here.

“A prayer for our earth” is available in greeting cards, notepads, and a small variety of wall art. Tap on image above, or follow this link for details. 100% of profits from this item are donated directly to Earthjustice.

We live amid a global wave of anthropogenically driven biodiversity loss: species and population extirpations and, critically, declines in local species abundance. Particularly, human impacts on animal biodiversity, until recently, have been an under-recognized form of global environmental change. Such catastrophic animal declines as we are experiencing today will cascade onto ecosystem functioning and human well-being. Much remains unknown about the “Anthropocene defaunation.” Our knowledge gaps hinder our capacity to predict and limit defaunation impacts. Clearly, however, defaunation is both a pervasive component of the planet’s sixth mass extinction and also a major driver of global ecological change.

Resist Extinction speaks for itself, and is available in a wide variety of products, from posters to tees, and totes. Several choices are shown below, tap on either image or title for details. Resist Extinction is available 0n 44 products.

Bees are dying—an alarming 40 percent of honeybee colonies collapsed from spring 2017 to 2018, and more and more of our 4,000-plus species of wild bees, like the rusty patched bumblebee, are edging toward extinction.

While climate change, habitat loss, and disease all play a role in the rate of colony collapse, mounting scientific evidence links the recent dramatic spike in bee deaths to the rise of neonic (short for neonicotinoid) pesticides—now the most heavily used insecticides in the United States. Neonics can kill bees on contact and at even very low exposures harm their ability to navigate, forage, and reproduce. These chemicals also easily spread through soil and water, and can be absorbed by wild plants, making the pollen and nectar poisonous to bees and other pollinators. Please avoid using all neonics on your plants and in your garden. Encourage your local retailers to take neonic products and neonic-treated plants off their shelves.
